In This Month's Issue of Checking In:
Welcome coaches, clients, and friends to the San Francisco Bay Area chapter of the International Coach Federation! We are a thriving community of coaches and anyone wanting to learn more about our profession. As an organization, we are the leader in the evolution of the coaching industry and we are passionately committed to the success of our members.
I am honored to lead us into what promises to be a breakout year for our chapter. In 2013 we laid the foundation for our success through initiatives such as livestreaming, which has allowed us to cultivate a global subscribership in addition to including members and friends throughout the Bay Area in our gatherings, positioning us as one of the cutting edge ICF chapters in the world.
In the spirit of building community, we are poised to take our organization to the next level in 2014. We are planning many fun and educational activities to foster relationships among our members and between SF Bay Area Coaches and the world at large. For example,
• We are creating a dynamic and interactive program for International Coaching Week in May, which will be our first time participating in this global event;
• We are expanding our offerings beyond our monthly gatherings to include happy hours, book club, and opportunities for our members to connect, network, and bond;
• We are strengthening our relationships with local coaching schools through our volunteer liaison program; and
• We will continue to deliver stellar monthly presentations and events with top-notch speakers.
I am excited for what 2014 has in store for us and invite you to join us at our events and as a volunteer. Together, we can make 2014 our best year yet!

Congratulations Keiko, 2013 Service Excellence Award Winner!
ICF San Francisco Bay Area Coaches proudly announces the winner of the 2013 Service Excellence Award: 2013 Past President Keiko Hsu!
Keiko was recognized for her outstanding contributions, especially in the area of bringing to fruition the chapter’s livestreaming of monthly gatherings, which is the cornerstone of our Regional Streaming Video Party (RSVP) program (which helps coaches in remote parts of the Bay Area connect with each other and the chapter), as well as making the livestreamed events available to a global audience.
Congratulations Keiko, and thank you for your dedication and service!
And A Good Time Was Had by All!
Coaches always manage to have a good time when they get together, and the 2013 Holiday Gathering was no exception! We enjoyed great food, great company, and great entertainment that touched our hearts and taught us a few things. Thank you to everyone who joined us for the evening, and a big Thank You to the evening’s organizers!
Here are a few pictures from the evening:
Welcome 2014 Sponsor CRR Global!
We would like to welcome and thank CRR Global Advanced Coach Training and Certification for coming on as our lead 2014 sponsor. CRR Global was founded by Marita Fridjhon and Faith Fuller as a means of inspiring and equipping coaches. Each of these women brings remarkable depth of training, experience and wisdom to their mission - seriously, their full credentials don’t even fit on this page!
I recently had a chance to tour the CRR offices in Benecia and meet their team. Curiously, moments before I arrived, there had been a car accident in front of their building and Marita and others were out in front checking on everyone’s well-being. It was quite evident to me that they have gathered a team of people who align with their commitment and strong belief that our work as coaches needs to be world-class because we are world-workers with impact on human lives far beyond what we can recognize.
I encourage our members to check out the materials available at the monthly meetings and learn more at CRR Global’s website at http://www.centerforrightrelationship.com. If you would like to connect with Faith or Marita, I’m happy to facilitate a direct email introduction as well.

Volunteer as a Coaching School Liaison in 2014!
We are launching the volunteer Coaching School Liaison program in 2014 and we are looking for a few motivated women and men to liaise between local coaching schools and SFBAC.
Volunteering is a great way to get involved with SFBAC and give back to the community, and this is a great opportunity to build your relationship with coaching schools while also supporting our organization! It will also be a chance to network with fellow volunteers and connect with the SFBAC Board.
The primary responsibility of the liaisons will be to ensure that SFBAC collateral is distributed to students and that schools are announcing SFBAC meetings and inviting their students to participate in our events. We are looking for volunteers for the following schools:
• Academy of Coaching & NLP
• Academy for Coaching Excellence
• California Institute of Integral Studies
• The Coaches Training Institute (CTI)
• CRR Global
• Institute for Professional Excellence in Coaching
• New Ventures West
• Sofia University
• Strozzi Institute
• Other local ICF-affiliated coaching schools not on this list
If you would like to volunteer as a Coaching School Liaison, please email Krisztina Kohlhaas at email@example.com by Wednesday, January 22 with the following information:
2. What city do you live in?
3. Why would you like to be a volunteer Coaching School Liaison?
4. Please rank order the top 3 schools at which you would like to volunteer in order of preference (we will do our best to accommodate your first choice).
5. Are you a current student or alumnus/alumna of one of the schools? Which one?
6. Preference will be given to volunteers able to commit for the entire year. Please address your ability to do that.
Thanks and we look forward to a year of fun and collaboration!
Launching the SFBAC Book Club!
We are excited to announce the formation of the inaugural SFBAC Book Club! The Book Club is one of many initiatives aimed at fostering connection, fun, and learning within our community in 2014. The Book Club will meet once a month and focus on topics related to coaching, personal growth, and business building. We are still finalizing the logistics, but if you would like to participate, please email our Events Director Tina Ambrosini at firstname.lastname@example.org.
We are also looking for a volunteer to take the lead, so if you are interested, please let Tina know.

President Krisztina Kohlhaas to speak on the Art of Client Creation at the National Association of Women Business Owners
What if you didn't "find" clients, or "get" clients, or even "attract" clients, but instead you CREATED clients, and could do so at will whenever you chose?
Creating clients is what happens when you are willing to combine your imagination with action, and when you bring your creativity to the table. It puts you in the driver's seat of your business instead of passively awaiting success at the hands of other people. And the kind of clients you would love to work with are not created through sales and marketing schemes; rather, they are created one powerful and authentic conversation at a time.
In this presentation you will learn how to leverage the skill of relationship building to create a thriving business with steady revenue. You will discover the #1 catalyst for client creation (hint: it's not a marketing gimmick), so that you will be serving only your ideal clients and 2014 will be your best year yet.
