President’s Message:

It's hard to believe the year is almost halfway over, and what a great start it has been. SFBAC's first ever participation in International Coaching Week in May was a huge success. We spent two impactful days coaching business entrepreneurs and "wantrapraneurs" at SCORE, which was very well received with a long waiting list.  We launched the SFBAC Book Club and set the direction for future Book Club meetings.  And we took to the streets with Renegade Coaching in Union Square where ten coaches gave impromptu sessions introducing a whole new audience to the power of coaching. My heartfelt thanks to the dozens of members who came out to participate in and support the week's events.

As we head into summer, we will continue to bring you fabulous speakers such as Janet Schieferdecker, who will show us how to claim our mastery with NLP-based exercises in June, and Beatrice Chestnut, who will be speaking on the Enneagram and coaching in July.  Stay tuned and we look forward to seeing you there!

International Coaching Week Was Wonderful!

Hours and hours of pro-bono coaching... Book club kick-off... Deepening member connections… In addition to coaching many new people, developing our own coaching skills, and gaining some public profile, we learned a lot from the week. There’s talk of making “pop-up” coaching a repeating event. Our book club has already scheduled a next meeting in June (see below in the newsletter for that). We forged a great relationship with SCORE.

None of this would have been possible without the incredible and energetic efforts of Tina Ambrosini, our events director. Because of her, we have new ideas of how to serve our community, and how to strengthen ties among our members. Tina, no better way to say it, you rock!

Claim Your Mastery — With Janet Schieferdecker

Do you start creating materials to share your “niche knowledge” mastery and passion—and then stop? Maybe you’re developing talks, exercises and workshops by fitting your knowledge of the content to time. The secret is to begin by putting yourself into the shoes of your audience, focusing on their core needs, while expanding the frame just enough so that they can crave learning more.

Come join us for a highly interactive, demo-based presentation with Janet Schieferdecker, who will share some NLP-based exercises that will allow you to walk in your prospects’ shoes, and articulate core content points you want in your workshops. You’ll also learn to structure a presentation so it has an arc and leaves people with a sense of completion— and a desire for more.

Janet holds an MBA from the London Business School, and is a certified trainer who blends proven communication techniques, the neuroscience of change, and international business acumen to produce and deliver cutting edge training. She has a proven record of creating leaders, establishing passionate teams and helping senior leaders and middle managers lead fulfilling lives and careers.

The structure for now is that we’re going meet about every one or two months, rotate hosting, and the host chooses the date, venue and book.
